Our Government part two.

Our US Government

Today, I will refine my last opinion about the U.S government. My last opinion of our government was based on what I have learned in my U.S government college class and this time will be more specific with examples.

The structure of our government was constituted in the 18th century, and since then it has been adapting to facilitate and please the common citizens. It's incredible to reflect on the past and realize how our government was not even ready to be called a first world country. The government used to be ruled by white land-owning males. Nobody but them had the right to vote and decide the future of our country. It's been quite a long time since that, and now there are still people that think or assure that their rights have been snatched from their hands. I think this is demonstrated during the elections.

In my opinion, our votes are not being counted as it ought to be. Our votes are for deciding which representative of a party go and vote in the electoral college. Most of the time we do not know at all who these people are, or if we really can trust our decision, which again we should all give our vote by ourselves, and not by these representatives.

The U.S is the only country with this political structure of voting. Other countries rely upon the popular vote, which is a better way to see what the people want. This is a potential replacement for the electoral college that can enhance and improve the vote of our citizens.

  1. Today, I want to share my opinion about my colleague's article about our voting system in the USA. In America, we count not only vote for people but also electoral college vote. It is sometimes helpful to count the vote from electoral college, but mostly it is not. I firmly agree with my colleague's opinion about the voting system. He mentioned that "Most of the time we do not know at all who these people are, or if we really can trust our decision, which again we should all give our vote by ourselves, and not by these representatives." It is true that the electoral college is an important structure for our nation, but as my colleague mentioned on his article that we mostly do not know about them, and it is important to the nation to see the importance of the popular vote. As everybody knows that our last primary vote was a great example. The rate of the popular vote for Clinton was higher than the Trump, but electoral college chose Trump, and he got elected. This is awful to some other country, because like in South Korea, we count only popular vote for the primary election. I think our government should develop our current voting system to make a better society.
